Just wanted to give you a quick heads up on the status of S. 1915, the "American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act".
Despite a huge outpouring of support for the bill by the American public, the Senate has yet to bring it up for a vote. But there is still hope that we can permanently end the brutal practice of horse slaughter in the US before the end of this year. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the Senate is now in recess until December 4th. As soon as they are back, I will again start calling my senators. I will be urging them to sign up as cosponsors of the bill and asking them to push harder then ever to get this bill up on the floor for a vote. And I urge you to call too! It’s very important that your senator’s phones don’t stop ringing. They need to know that this issue is still on the minds of voters. The exact last day of session is yet unknown but it will end sometime right before the Christmas holiday. That means we only have about 2 weeks after 12/4 to get our message across. It’s easy! Just find your Senator by calling the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 or by looking up the phone number here: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm Learn more about the myths and facts of horse slaughter at: http://www.uan.org/index.cfm?navid=256 |
