Two days before Rita struck I put out a panic request for help
getting 11 horses out of Ipswich rescue in Magnolia TX. So
many of you helped in the search and I want to let you know
what happened. Lone Star Equine Rescue and Habitat for
Horses finally got in touch with Dani Hollowell from Crystal
Cross Farms in Killeen, TX who offered to do the evacuation.
Crystal Cross is a training farm.

They drove through the night to the area and evacuated the
horses (10 was the actual number), along with a few other
horses. On the way to Crystal Cross farms they were caught
in the terrible traffic jam in 100 degree plus heat, but they
finally arrived with all horses in good shape.

We thought that it had all been for nothing as the eye of the
storm struck up the coast, but I could not get through to
Kathleen for several days. As it turns out, a small tornado
hit near her farm and did substantial damage to her out buildings.
One of those roofs was thrown onto the roof of her house.
There is no doubt that moving the horses saved them from
death or horrible injury.

Kathleen's computer is dead and she still has no power, but
she wants me to thank everyone who helped and allowed the
call to be cross posted, and most of all Dani Hollowell and
her great team.

Horse people are amazing!
