Hi all! Charley and I had begun to make some progress, when all of a sudden things just seemed to fall apart. 10 steps forward and 20 steps back? It just got to the point where he would not allow me to touch him at all. I have found a trainer (with methods that I approve of), who believes that there is hope for any horse, and made room in her schedule for me and Charley. Loading him on the trailer to take him to her was kinda scary, but he has been there two weeks now. Yesterday, she walked Charley on to the trailer without a bit of trouble, and began some desensitization training. She used a glove attached to a pole to gently rub him all over. She said he did not "go crazy" but just stood there trembling. She did this briefly and immediately released him from the trailer. She said they will continue to do this for numerous days, so that he can see that getting on the trailer and getting touched, is not such a big deal - he survives it every time! I would love to hear how others are progressing. Will post more on Charley as training continues. Bev
