I am looking for Canadian adopters. I am considering adopting a couple foals. I'f like to here your experiences crossing the border? If any. Especially now that border crossings are stricter then they used to be. I appreciate anything you could tell me. Especially about the requirements.
Thank you. Wink

You have several farms that have these horses there in Canada.. The US brings many of them here as the farms sell them to us when they are finished with them.,. This includes foals also as they are taken from the mares...
I will try to find a site there for you...
Good luck.....

Thank you for pointing that out. I have been looking around but everything I have found was from the US. I would appreciate any help you could offer. Smiler

I just adopted my girl out of Canada in May. The ranch I adopted her from took care of all the border crossing details and it everything went smoothly with no problems at all. I would assume most of the ranches that adopt to the U.S. are the same? I could put you in contact with the ranch I got my girl from, if you are looking for a draft since that rancher is Percherons only.

Hi Crazyinlove!

Right now, all currently contracted PMU horses are in Canada. Most of the ranches that have had their contracts cut in recent years are also in Canada. It is a little confusing since most of the PMU rescues are in the United States, but these horses are primarily coming from Canada.

I'd recommend searching on PMURescue.org by location for horses that are still in Canada. Let us know how it goes! Thanks for helping the horses!

crazyinlove, I found a PMU adoption organization that supposedly places in Canada. The link is www.pmufani.org. Hope this is what you are looking for.

If you go forward with it, I hope your experience is as rewarding as mine has been. I adopted my filly through www.hopeforhorses.com in Texas. She came from a ranch in Manitoba.

Good luck!
