My husband and I would like to adopt a PMU foal, especially a draft horse, i.e. Clydesdale, Belgian, Percheron. We have a 64 acre farm and have 3 horses currently, 2 adopted from a rescue and the third is a foal born to the mare a week after we adopted her.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You and your husband are angels! There are so many babies out there .If you are willing to devote the time to another baby for 2 yrs please adopt a baby.Everyone that calls our ranch about adopting wants the perfect horse with $40,000.00 dollars worth of training on them for nothing.They want the bomb proof ,kid proof horse for free.I also suggest to spend some time with the baby to make sure theres no personality clash etc. and the rescue organization would appreciate the service hours if you could spare a few .I know I would .P.S. I'm in southern Illinois, not terribly far from you. I just placed my last two PMUs from 2008, so I don't have any available at the moment, but I expect to have several again in the fall (I go to auctions were PMU offspring are consigned). Also, I know of a rescue in the Nashville, TN area. They have draft PMUs available, so I'm sending you a private message with their contact info. Good luck!

Hi Brenda,
I noticed you were looking for a PMU foal back in March. Have you adopted one? If not, let me make a recommendation. I adopted a foal from the Animali Farm in California. They did an excellent job from start to finish. My foal, now Dakota, was untouched. It has been an unbelievable experience to train him. I would highly recommend it to anyone willing to spend the time and energy. He turned two this year and has been started under saddle and doing very well. My plan is to travel the country with him! Good luck.

Sorry, I have been off the list for a while. We adopted 3 drafts and 2 draft crosses thanks to a contact given to us by Karen in IL. We are trying to help a friend find a Clydesdale to adopt. He has no preference as to gender or age. He and his wife would give the horse an EXCELLENT home - they are deeply involved in equine rescue (we adopted our first two horses from them). So please, if you know of a pure Clydesdale (grade is ok), please contact me.
