Hi Alishahicks,
I don't have experience with all sales so I'm not sure I can be much help in that regard. My personal experience is that these factors will contribute to low prices:
- high volume without much promotion
- weekday sale
- drought-stricken region
- mismatch between seller and buyers (for example non-drafts consigned to a draft sale)
- poor regional economy

These factors seem to bring higher prices:
- sponsored & well-publicized sale
- foals are groomed and trained
- low volume
- Saturday sale
- high consignment fee
- good match (example AQHA at a ranch horse sale)

If anyone is thinking of attending a particular sale, I would be happy to respond to private email.

Thanks for posting, Karen. That is so sad!!

I went to the website and checked out those Quarter Horse babies... Many of them look VERY nice! Very good, sloping shoulders and big, strong-looking hips. It's such a shame they're all going to auction like that. If I had more money, I would absolutely buy another PMU baby. My mare Freya (now 3 yrs. old) is doing great! They turn out to be such wonderful horses. Pic below is from this last May.

Best,
Kristin

Freya is beautiful! I also have only one PMU, but I usually have a few temporary visitors in the fall. This is my boy (age 6) deep in thought...
