Hi, I'm Amanda, I'm from Washington and my foal has arrived! She is under weight, sick and VERY dirty but she's safe now and working towards getting healthy. I love reading everyones stories and they have all inspired me. I'm so glad I took this chance and look forward to keeping everyone updated!
Congratulations on your new girl! I remember how exciting it was the day my Cody arrived after all that waiting! I love her coloring! Looks like grulla! Where is she from?

Hi. This is Becky from Serenity Acres. My husband and I delivered that colt. It was the week before Christmas. We were in 50 degree below zero temps in ND and 27 inches of snow in WA. The babies are in a draft stock trailer, hauled loose in a compartment with other horses from the ranch. They do get dirty. He was the first horse delivered and was fed and watered during the trip. Traveling is stressful on the horses and in that horrible weather it is not surprising if they get shipping fever. My husband got a fractured leg from a colt's kick, but still drove for 3 more days and delivered the other horses. He did not get to the doctor until we got home. Most of you have no idea what it takes to transport these horses. We have done it for 4 years, year round. Larry has had crushed ribs, broken toes and now the fracture. We have decided that we will no longer transport our adoptions. Including the horses we placed before we started working with UAN - we have placed well over 500 horses. We are now working with 2 other ranches that have APHA and AQHA babies as well as Appendix and some draft crosses WE continue to work with the big ranch that has drafts and draft crosses. We have worked 24/7 for alomst 6 years as volunteers for our organization. We have contributed close to $250,000 of our own money to stay alive. The transportation helped to pay our expenses on the road, and to help pay the operational expenses. We will continue to list the horses on the UAN site. If anyone knows of a GOOD, reputable transporter, please let me know. We hired someone for a January trip and he was terrible. thanks, Becky
