Ok, since I can't get rid of it, I'll change it. I now have 5 rescue horses. Three are PMUs from the same ranch in ND, and the other two are registered ASBs from here in TX where I live. All are on my place in NE Oklahoma where I hope to go home and retire (SOON). I wish I had the life they have now: eat/ sleep, eat/ sleep, eat/ sleep. LOL

Hi Megamare,
I see what the problem is... you're using HTML code. It's actually even easier than that. You just need the direct link to the photo. Here's an example: http://i889.photobucket.com/al...ac94/VFRO/Sarah1.jpg then you just press the image button in the toolbar and paste the link in it. Or if you want to get fancy, you can type in the tags on either side of the link to the photo (no spaces). Hope this helps! She's beautiful. Karen UAN Program Director |

Thanks Karen! That's little Buff the Quarter Palomino, who's now a coming 3 yr old beside her, and the other one of Charley Horse which I still don't know if I can do this, is the ranch's #2 stallion I finally got "home" the last of June this year. I've been trying to get pics taken and downloaded to a hosting site all this time, and I've had Sarah and Buff since June 2nd of 2007. They are all doing well. My son tells me Charley is now looking pretty good, considering he was almost dead (and for several days after) when I first brought him from the drop off in Little Rock. I only got his pic on my cell phone then, but I wouldn't want anyone to see it. I cry when I look at it. On a happier note, Buff has had my little grandkids on her, and is a total pocket pet. I'll be going back up this weekend and hope to get some more photos to post. Thanks for your help. I'll try again.

I dun it! Can't wait to get to spend some time with them. More pasture being fenced this week, which will ease the feeding schedule for my DIL & everybody will be getting a pasture trim. I got some very good used tack last week from a trainer over in Ft. Worth who is switching over to dressage. BTW, I had to nag, but the old disk has been removed from inside the fence.

Could you please share your experiences with your 3 PMU horses? I'm thinking of adopting through Animal in CA, which has horses in North Dakota and Canada.
I'm trying to get as much info about wild, semi-wild PMU horses so I can make a good decision. Mary Denver, CO |

Sure I will! What part would you like to know about? The part about getting them or what are they like now? Health issues/care? Temperament?
Let me know and I'll be happy to give you even more details. Not all of it is pleasant, but I'm glad I could save them. Kudos to you for wanting to save some, too! There are a couple of reasons I chose PMU horses over mustangs (call me a sap, I guess). Not everyone will agree with me on this, I know, but that's the way I am. Since there are far more abandoned animals, I rescue abandoned animals, not wild ones. I believe it hurts them when humans, whom they have come to depend on, cease to give that care. And, I feel they become attached emotionally (and no one is going to tell me they don't) to humans, many times even one human, so it is worse for them because of this. No animal that has ever been in the care of humans should be abandoned. That said, you may want to read the comment by Inirish: http://uan.infopop.cc/eve/foru...6109172/m/8211053923 This is the same ranch I got my horses from, and for the two mares, the same transporter. I used a different transporter for the stallion, since Larry is dealing with serious health issues, and of course, Becky is trying to take care of him and keep their ranch afloat (is that a good term for a ranch in NM?)? Anyway, I just felt I had to save the paint mare and stallion, and the little filly was an afterthought since she was on the trailer and apparently the original people who arranged the adoption didn't want her after all. She'd had strangles and still had issues with that according to my vet who saw them after they were delivered. He treated her for it, she got over it and is doing even better now than in the posted pic. She's completely filled out now. The stallion is whole 'nother horror story. He's alive, and slowly, slowly improving due to diligent care, a huge vet bill and lots of equine senior & corn oil, but I actually think he's not the age he was claimed. And he was a minus 1 on the Henneke condition score when he arrived. Temperament on all three? I never knew any other horses as sweet as these three. How could they be otherwise with draft blood? All the more reason I'm so glad I adopted them. They did not deserve the raw deal they were getting. |
