Has anyone experienced flat soles with their PMU or other horses? Velvet just had a recent trimming and she went from the last trimming with nice concave soles to flat soles and the farrier carved away as much as he thought would be safe and help produce a concave sole. Two days later she was very lame in one front and a little lame in the other. I had the vet out today and she said that drafts tend to have flat soles, but it could also be a stage of growth for Velvet. She also said she is likely bruised with possible abscesses. She is being treated short term but I was wondering if anyone knows anything about flat soles on a more long term basis? Care of, ways to prevent bruising, etc.

Cody has great, round, perfect hooves. I do have to keep his front ones shod as he tends to get flares and cracks. No problems otherwise.
