My name is Anastasia Keyser and I run the non-profit Hope for Horses Equine Rescue in Texas. Our primary focus is saving the PMU horses. We have already taken two loads from Canada this year with many available horses. We now have two critical situations going on.

First, one of the ranchers in Canada that we have worked with before, has about 26 mares, 15 foals, and a stallion left. He does not want to keep any of them nor does he want to feed them this winter. If we don't save the mares and stallion by the end of December, he will ship them to the slaughter house. He might give us more time for the foals, but not for the adults. We are in a situation that we already have too many horses and don’t have the room for a full load of un-adopted horses. We also are paying over twice as much for hay due to the drought. We want to save theses mares, but we need your help. Please help us by pre-adopting, donating feed money, or sponsoring horses even if you can't adopt one! Second, there is a rancher that we tried to help, but due to many different things, the only option he has is to send them to an auction. Since they would definitely go to slaughter if auctioned in Canada, we offered for him to send them to the Magnolia auction here in Texas so that we could spread the word and try to purchase any that might go to slaughter. We are all not happy with the need to send them there, but believe me, there were no other options. There will be around 30 horses including open mares, pregnant mares, and foals.
