I just wanted to share how beautiful PMU foals turn out. This is my filly, Velvet. She will be turning 1 year soon. I adopted her last fall. She was in bad shape when I got her, she had a body condition score of about 2.5 when she arrived in PA and besides seeing almost all of her ribs I could also see the prefect outline of her shoulder blade all the way around in spite of her long thick winter coat. Needless to say I worried about her for quite sometime. Now she is blossoming. She is very outgoing and does not over react to anything, but she is bold, which makes her a handful at times. When I saw her for the first time I wondered if I had made the right decision, but now I know I have! She has changed so much over the past several months so I just had to share what she looks like and how much she has changed.

I picked Velvet from this photo:

Wow! Velvet is beautiful. I adopted a filly from Ranch 1 back in 05. She is a blue roan (Blue Boy Baby) and she is still doing the samething. I swear she is a chameleon! I took monthly progression pics when she was a foal and am still shocked when I look back at them. I felt like I had a different horse every time I went to the stables. Big Grin

If you get a chance check out Bella under the posting of " My Beautiful Girl".

Congratulations and have a blast with Velvet. She very pretty.

Wow, thanks for sharing your story and the beautiful photos! She sure has changed a lot, and not just her changing coat color. She looks so happy and confident now!

She really is a chameleon! Her color is stunning and she is really filling out and looking wonderful Smiler My PMU colt is from Ranch 1 also, probably your filly's 1/2 brother. How tall is she now? My colt was 14.3 at 11 mos. and he's just hitting 18 hds now at almost 4!! You could have a tall girl there Smiler They are so sweet and have such amazing personalities.

Thank you. I love my little girl! Her sire is Pepper from ranch 1 and dam 17. She was 14.1 at 11 months. I can't believe your baby has grown to be 18 hands! WOW! Do you have a picture of your giant beauty? What is his name?

Are you sure Velvet's sire is pepper? A couple of your pictures have blue boy in them. I think you are part to the Blue Boy clan like myself and Dana. Big Grin

What do ya think Dana????

I could be wrong about this, but I assumed that she was in with Blue Boy because her dam was being bred to him for a foal this spring. I can't wait to see this foal. Sadly I do wish I could take her dam. Hopefully someone will see what I see in her and adopts her.

Yes, I think Blue Boy based on her coloring although Pepper is a black and white pinto/paint isn't he? I wasn't told who my colt's father was, they just said they thought he was part belgian but when I looked at all the stallions, none of them looked close to him except Blue Boy and also the height seems to point that way. Cody's mom is mare 182 and she's for sale too. Sad, I hope someone buys her because as great as Cody is, she must have given him her personality. Here is my big boy Smiler I don't have any of him when he was younger on my computer right now but he didn't have the big feet until about a year ago!!

Nikki - Everyone I know loves Blue Boy including me! We can still have a family reunion some day, because we are all part of the PMU family and that is a special family! Wink

Dana - Wow! He is gorgeous and tall. I was recently talking with the owner of a tack shop and she also has a PMU. He is mostly all Draft. She said he continued to grow in height and didn't top off until he was 8 years old! Yikes! She had to get a saddle special made for him. Did you need to get a special saddle for Cody?

I sure hope he doesn't grow until he's 8!!! Yikes! Thanks for the nice comments. I think he's a beauty but I'm biased Smiler

So far I'm lucky my good old Stubben English saddle fits according to the chiropractor and one huge western saddle but he makes them looks so small, like a toy saddle!

Wish I had room for more babies! It's like opening a surprise package to see how they turn out since all you get is a picture when they are young. I never would have guessed my Cody would end up so big.

Have a great weekend!
