I live in the Sacramento area and am desperate to find a shoer to trim my PMU mare. I had one lined up and then he moved to Visalia. I have been working with the mare and she is getting very good at picking up her feet. My regular shoer is super - but not patient with green horses. I need someone who will be willing to take it slow and give her a good experience. Please help!!

Good luck. We went through 5 farriers before we found one who didn't want to sedate our Belgians. WE even had a shoeing stock for them to use! Our farrier is not cheap, but he is patient and worth the trim.

Hi,
We are in Santa Rosa, and our shoer is from your area. I am sure she could give you a referral to someone up there.
Continuing training with your horse is very important. Meantime, offer to pay the shoer for his/her time instead, and really emphasize that you want a quality experience for the horse as opposed to a perfect job. This takes the pressure off everybody.
Good luck, and thanks for helping a PMU mare!
