Hello! I'm so glad to have found this community. I adopted my PMU filly last October. After my husband and I found the PMU website online, I was glued to the internet, completely horrified by the PMU practices going on and at the same time totally motivated to adopt one of these gorgeous animals. So we adopted a beautiful filly and named her Rainbow.
Rainbow is a really cool color because she is a bay roan, tobiano paint. This past winter, the paint color of her coat was brown and white but as it's shedding out this spring, the brown is shedding to a beautiful grey color. So she's grey, and white with a brown face and black legs with a black and white mane and tail. See why we named her Rainbow? Anyway, she has been the sweetest little filly ever. The transportation guys said that she loaded like a champ when she started on that long journey from her drop off point to our house (15 hours away, not counting her first trip from Manatoba!). She unloaded really well and we fell in love with her sweet personality right away. She loves to be scratched and sometimes while cleaning the stall she almost becomes TOO friendly because she wants constant attention from us! She has been becoming a little mouthy lately but I think her mouthiness is just her trying to get our attention a lot of the times. She's the most affectionate horse I've ever been around. This summer we'll be able to work with her more and I'm really excited to start some basic ground work with her. Tuesday she has a trimming from the farrier. During her first one she stood really well and the farrier exclaimed how sweet she is! I hope that she can continue to be this sweet. With my husband and I working full time, our time with her is limited but so far so good! Hopefully in a few years we'll be riding her and taking her on trails in our woods. In the years after that maybe our daughter will be able to take her to 4-H :-) |

I'm going to try and post a picture and see if it works...
The first one is the image I saw on the internet when I knew I had to have her This is how she looked when they brought her to the drop off point in New Hampshire And this is several months afterwards at my house This is how she looks now that her coat has started to shed. I need to get a better updated picture of her. The last one really doesn't do her justice because it was zoomed in from my house! They aren't working. Can someone tell me how to make them work? |

Hi Rainbow13!
I just received my filly in November. In your discription it sounded like you were describing Bella. Bella stood perfectly still for the two times I have had her trimmed. She was very quick to halter and lead. She is the sweetest of my three horses. She is also the easiest and most willing. When I first saw Bella's picture I knew I had to do everything in my power to get her. Which I did. When I finally laid eyes on her she had changed so much from her picture she was not what I wanted at all. But her personality won me within the first day. Now she is shedding out and getting lighter as we speak. She is a beautiful silver, blue roan. I am going to try to post a current picture and there is an older one on one of these threads. Good luck to you and your filly and I hope yours stays as sweet as Bella! |

Rainbowp13 and Nikki -
Thanks for participating on the boards! It's easy to post photos - just put the tag "". Be sure that there are no spaces. Here's an example of what it should look like - just replace the parentheses with brackets: (IMG)http://www.hostingwebsite.com/myimage.jpg(/IMG) Your horses are BEAUTIFUL! Karen,
Thank you so much for helping out with the pictures!!! And thank you for the compliments! I love my filly :-) Nikki, I REMEMBER your filly from the website! She is beautiful. I remember seeing her and thinking that she had beautiful confirmation and such a pretty color to her. My filly went out in the same lot as yours from UPF but my filly is out of Pepper. I also looked at Blue Boy's foals but ultimately decided on this one! My husband wanted one of the Clydesdale fillies but we couldn't justify spending the amount of money on hay that would be needed for a Clydesdale. Rainbow hasn't had a halter on very much because we have an open ended barn so we open their stalls and they go straight into the pasture. Last night I put her halter on to do some lead work on her and I had to adjust it 4 notches on each side!!!!! I can't believe how much that little horse has grown!!! Her Sire is 16.3 and I'm sure she'll get to be every bit as tall as he is. I wish I knew what her Mother looked like but I was unable to find out. Anyway, Rainbow was walking in circles around me last night, lounging within 10 minutes and moving away from pressure when I lead her away from me within about the same amount of time. She's such a neat little horse! I wish we weren't having a huge snowstorm tonight because I'm dying to work with her again and tomorrow is my day off. At least spring and summer is on its way! |

Thanks for the help Karen and I'm glad to know it's not just me that thinks she is beatiful.
Rainbow; I thought I had seen that filly too! How funny, ranch mates. Bella has changed so much since her original picture. She was an extremely dark grey when she arrived and now she is lighter than her original picture. Blueboy was 17.2 and Bella is well on her way! We measured her on Saturday and she is 14.1 @ 10 months. Just the little bit I have worked with her she learns so fast! I had the halter on her within days of her arrival. She leads great as long as it's not back to her stall in the barn |
