I hope no one minds my occassional post as to Charley's progress. I guess to tell the truth, I figured Charley and I would not have made it this far. He seemed to be beyond my reach. But with the help of this trainer, who has really shown extraordinary patience with Charley and myself, as well; I have been able to walk right up to Charley and attach a lead rope, lead him around without difficulty, rub all over his face and scratch behind his ears, stroke and brush his neck, shoulders, front legs, sides and back (he still has some issues with being brushed on his belly, hindquarters and back legs - but we are getting there), and pick up his front legs briefly. He actually seems to be looking forward to the attention - nickers to you, comes to the fence stretching his head out as far as possible toward you, and coming in a hurry once you step inside his area. His round pen training is coming along remarkably as well. I highly suggest professional help with these guys. What began as a rather bleak and scary relationship with Charley, has turned into a very rewarding one. Good luck to everyone else out there trying!
