I would like to recommend the book "Sally Goes to the Vet" by Stephen Huneck. It is a young-reader hardback book about going to the doctor and being brave. I love how the author and illustrator make the visit pleasant with lots of great drawings! It would be a great read-a-loud book for the HEAR program.

Hi Angela,

Thank you for your book suggestion. Sally Goes to the Vet by Stephen Huneck is a wonderful book. The entire series (Sally Goes to the Beach, Sally Goes to the Farm, and many delightful others) are enjoyable stories written from a dog named Sally's perspective.

We will look into this book for our Suggested Reading List but it doesn't appear to be a perfect fit for United Animal Nations' (UAN) Humane Education Ambassador Reader (HEAR) program. We focus on books that highlight the bond between animals and people a bit more than Sally Goes to the Vet does.

I am sure many young readers will enjoy this book with its woodcut pictures!

Keep those great suggestions coming!

Hi Everyone,

I recently read Catsong by T.J. Banks. This book won the 2007 Merial Human-Animal Bond Award.

I found it to be a wonderful depiction of the bond that one woman shared with the many cats that touched her life. The love and care that she provides to her cats was beautiful.

I would love to hear from others who may have read this book. What did you think?

Karly
