This week saw two big headlines hit the press that appear to conflict each other. One study reports that after women stop taking PMU drugs their risks of side effects decreases; the other reports that the risk remains. How confusing!

One article clarifies that the risk for cancer remains while the risk for blood clots and stroke diminishes after stopping the hormones, but the other article claims that the risk for cancer also diminishes.

Many women write to UAN and tell us that knowing how horses are involved in the making of PMU drugs has caused them to make a different choice.

Risks of hormone therapy decline over time, study finds

NBC news article and video (from San Francisco affiliate):
Study: Cancer Risk Lingers Years After Women Stop Hormone Therapy

This article blames sloppy research for the confusion. How comforting!
