Hello Group,

I am in need of information on evacuation of an animal shelter in the event of an emergancy; when the shelter it self has an emergancy. My inspector was asked to get with our Two City ran shelters to do a fire evac plan. We really do not know where to start. Does any one have guide lines They could share with the Albuquerque Fire Deprtment. =0)

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) evacuates animals from shelters when disaster strikes. They would be a good place to contact for info. They offer disaster training.

Best Friends Animal Society in Utah has worked all over the world including Beirut and Peru. I'm sure they would be willing to share helpful info. Richard Crook is their Rapid Response Manager and is a retired firefighter. You can email at Rapidresponse @ bestfriends .org (remove spaces) If he asks how you knew to contact him you can tell him Sherry from Winn Dixie in NOLA told you about him.

I also found this manual that can be purchased.
