While everyone is packing their Go Bags and getting their pet records in order, how many are learning basic first aid and CPR?

You can take a Pet First Aid and CPR class at many local Red Cross offices. For around $30 you learn how to bandage a pet, move an injured pet, do CPR and more. You also get a First Aid manual that you can keep with your emergency supplies.

If classes are not available near you, or if you want more info, the Global Crisis Solution Center has a whole page of links to websites that give instructions on CPR and Heimlich for cats, dogs and birds.

(You should take the Red Cross class if at all possible so you can practice with a trained instructor.)

Note: Sometimes the Global Crisis website comes up with a large blank space at the top of the page -- just scroll down a bit until you see the link.
