The Disaster Preparedness Forum is a place for like-minded individuals to share ideas for personal disaster preparedness for animals, as well as a meeting place for those who are actively participating in improving their community animal disaster plan.
As you evaluate and prepare community plans, remember that United Animal Nations' EARS program is prepared to provide free services to communities that are overwhelmed by any animal crisis - whether it is caused by a natural disaster or a man-made disaster, such as animal hoarding.

As EARS volunteer as state co for La. I worked the Parish mock evacuation drills with our sheriffs office CERT team and was assinged to work with the animal control department.I was able to identify several gliches in the system right away and make suggestions to rectify several issues.I was glad that I was present for this. Our director of the Health department was not present due to the fact he was hospitalized the day before. His animal control officers were at a loss in his abesnce there for they seemed to be struggleing with several issues.I also realized the need for equipment that they should have already had was not purchased and in place .This could be a fatal error if not rectified before we hit hurricane season .I hate the thought of animals being left behind in the event of another Katrina.Once was enough.Lori Wilson La.State Cor.
