Does anyone know of any organizations that will provide grant money for shelters for the use of purchasing equipment/supplies specifically for emergencies or disasters? We're updating our shelter disaster/emergency plan and have come to the conclusion that we don't have many items that would be helpful or necessary in the event of an emergency and thought maybe a grant would help us purchase those items. I've done some research and there are some general grants that might work, but thought I'd check to see if anyone knew of any for the items we're looking for.

Thanks so much!

The best advice I can give you on this is get in touch with you Local Emergency Manager. They can apply for grant money from Homeland Security for disaster preparedness. You have to go through the local EM because they are the only ones that can apply for these grants.

Hope that helps,
Kay

There are private foundations which you can apply to. Check in the Foundation Directory for the names of the foundations that donate money for these kind of projects. You can contact us for additional information. pawsofaustin@yahoo.com

I know that PetSmart Charities (see their website) has grant monies that you can apply for. They divide the nation into 2 filing dates. They also have Webinars (online classes) that are terrific in HOW to apply, and other helpful topics. Check out the site.
