KIND NEWS, a kid-friendly newspaper, helps instill respect for all living creatures in young people as well as teach them about the wonderful world of animals! You can "sponsor" a classroom by simply paying for the costs (only thirty dollars) of a subscription. The class will receive about 28 newspapers monthly that are filled with animal facts, puzzles, teasers, and articles and the teacher will receive the teacher "version"--the one with the answers!
I have been subscribing my niece and nephew's classes every year with KIND NEWS since they began elementary school and they love it. The kids look forward to receiving it each month, and the teachers enjoy it just as much as the kids. I've been utilizing this resource for about 5 years now, and I think it's a great way to get to those kids who may not live in a animal friendly household or may not otherwise learn the importance of respecting animal life.
