Dear Hokie:
My friends keep telling me I should get my cats spayed and neutered, but this sounds unatural, not to mention, expensive. Don't you agree? -- Signed, Cool Cat Dear Joe: Actually, your friends are 100-percent right. Spaying and neutering can improve your cats' health and behavior. For example, neutering eliminates the risk of testicular cancer, reduces the risk of infectious diseases like feline AIDS (FIV), and stops them from “spraying” foul-smelling urine or wandering in search of a mate. You can find more information on the benefits of spay/neuter here. Not to mention, millions of healthy, adoptable animals are killed in shelters in this country every year because there aren't enough homes for them. By spaying and neutering your pets, you can help reduce this tragic problem. Spaying and neutering doesn't have to be expensive, either. Lots of shelters and communities have low-cost programs for people who can't afford the surgery on their own. To look for programs in your own state click here. Love and kisses, Hokie P.S. If you have any other suggestions for Cool Cat, please post them here! |

Gosh, wish I knew where Cool Cat lives as I had heard of a couple of spontaneous one time spay and neuter reduced fee clinics happening this month. There is a $10.00 Rabies clinic in Flint, Michigan 2/9 and 2/10.
Vaccinations are $10.00 each animal. Friday the 9th Magoo's outlet store on Pierson Road Flint 10am to 7pm Saturday the 10th Magoo's outlet store on Center Road 10am to 7pm Newt "Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see." Mark Twain |

I try and keep my cost at our Rabies Clinic as low as I can so all the people can get the animals taken care of.
Last year we charged $6 and this year I am trying to go down to $5. EARS South Dakota State Coordinator |

Cool Cat, tell that to all the unfixed female cats in my neighborhood who go into heat and sneak out looking for a boyfriend, and end up having litters of kittens under my neighbor's porches. Also, think about this: It's a ONE TIME cost. Once they're fixed, you'll never have to pay for that again for that cat. |
